How do you invite spring into your home?

share

Even when the weather outside is not pleasant and does not remind you of spring, you can create a warm atmosphere in your home—you just need to apply a few tricks to the interior. True, spring decoration does not have to be complicated or expensive—you just need to give your home more vitality, lightness, and coziness. This time, we will share a few simple ideas on how to invite spring into your home.

General cleaning

By removing unused, outdated items, you will enjoy greater lightness in your home and additional space for spring decor elements. You can start cleaning before the season starts – the easiest way to do this is to start with the following places, which you can devote just a few or a dozen minutes to:

  • Countertop;
  • Shelves;
  • Medicine boxes;
  • Refrigerator;
  • Magazine basket;
  • Closet.

You will likely find questionable items in both these and other places – then you should ask yourself the following questions:

  •  Have I used it in the past year? Will I use it in the coming years?
  • How many of these or similar items do I already have?
  • Would I buy it now? Would I keep it if I had to move?
  • Why did I buy it?
  • Does it make me happy?

The answers will help you critically decide and evaluate the accumulated items. If they are only intended to collect dust, they are unlikely to be needed in a home filled with spring.

New colors

For many, spring is associated with bright, vibrant colors. If you like such shades, you can include them more in your home interior. However, choosing such drastic, eye-catching colors is unnecessary – other, softer but cozy, clean tones will also be just as suitable. For example, the dining table can be decorated with white or light gray tablecloths, perfectly matching linen napkins, and coasters of the same shades. Even better, if you complement such a composition with green or flowering plants, an ordinary dinner will celebrate the spring that has visited the house.

Lighter textiles

The previously discussed dining tablecloths and other accessories and textiles used in the house can become lighter. Think about changes in the following spaces:

  • Bedroom. Of course, you can always limit yourself to new bed linen, but changing a heavy-down duvet to something lighter as the weather warms up is worth it. Even heavier bedspreads, such as linen blankets, can be replaced with lighter ones. The entire space of the room should also become lighter and much more spring-like. Remember that linen and cotton are most associated with spring – these materials add softness and delicacy to the room.
  •  Bathroom. Not only warm and thick towels can absorb moisture well and provide a pleasant experience – but linen products also compete with them. Choosing lighter shades of such towels will fill the bathroom with a cozy mood and lightness. Still, you will not have to sacrifice the most important practical features for this. Changing towels is one of the simplest, cheapest, but at the same time – the most effective ways to invite spring into your home.
  •  Kitchen. The situation will be very similar to the bathroom. Not only linen towels can appear here, but table runners, napkins, or coasters – the same accessories can be used in the kitchen and the dining room.

More greenery

You will probably agree that in a house with always plants, you can always more or less feel spring – if you have not used this trick yet, it is high time to correct such a mistake. Fresh flowers, twigs, or other green plants will revive the room, giving it more depth, height, and color. Sometimes, a similar effect can be achieved using artificial plants. Still, if you want real spring at home, you should not experiment.

You can put a bouquet of daffodils on the table or, for example, create interesting compositions by combining several different types of flowers. The main thing is that the compositions remain light and spring-like. It is also worth considering the possibility of growing your own greens and spices in the kitchen: the first harvest will be associated with the coming spring, and such seedlings will become a part of the interior of this room.

Additional accessories

We offer a few more decorating ideas that will give you more spring mood:

  •  Decorate the door with a spring wreath. Although we usually use such decorations before Christmas, they are also great for spring. Of course, we will use slightly different decorations for the wreath – in this case, leaves, green branches, or flower buds are best suited. As Easter approaches, you can add decorative eggs to the composition.
  • Hang artwork on the walls. The atmosphere of your home will change significantly even if you change your positions for many years.

Never-ending works of art. Like all spring decor, they should be light, upbeat, and lively. Even better, using the walls for your own or children’s masterpieces will create an even cozier, more personal environment.

  •  Work with bookshelves. This is another crucial accent that significantly contributes to the house’s atmosphere. However, it is definitely not necessary to fill the shelves with books that you do not even intend to read. It will be enough if you change their arrangement a little, and, for example, for a while, you will exhibit not only their bindings but also the pages.

More light

Spring is associated with the sun and light—ensure it can quickly enter your home. This may require opening the windows wider, choosing curtains of lighter fabric, applying new window decorations, or arranging the furniture entirely differently. And if natural light still seems too little, consider adding additional light sources. You’ve probably heard that layering lighting can also create a very cozy atmosphere. You’ll especially appreciate this atmosphere when waiting for spring to arrive on dark evenings.

By applying these ideas to your home, you’ll be able to bring spring into your home – it will get even more warmth, high spirits, and pleasant emotions. You’ll probably agree that the results are worth the effort.
