A day by the water: what is the most important thing to take?

share

In the warm season, you want to spend as many days relaxing by the water as possible. Everyone can find activities here, regardless of whether you like to passively pamper yourself by sunbathing, relaxing by the water, or building sandcastles with your children. However, for such entertainment to go as smoothly as possible, it is essential to carefully consider the things you will take with you – this time, we will discuss the most important ones.

The most important beach accessories

The main beach attributes can be divided into several categories – we will briefly discuss each.

Food and drinks

If you are going to a beach with cafes, stocking up on drinks and snacks is unnecessary. However, if you want to save money or eat what you like most, it is worth stocking up on food and water supplies in advance. Snacks should be easily protected from the sun; otherwise, you may have to take a cooler bag.

Hygiene and first aid supplies

You should have antibacterial hand gel or wet wipes with you – you will use these supplies before touching food. It is also important not to forget sunscreen – it should be applied every few hours or after each contact with water. A first aid kit will also come in handy: it should have plasters and antiseptic cream.

Linen bags

Linen bags are perfect for storing all your things—they are capacious enough to avoid an extra walk to the car. In addition, these accessories look very stylish—you will likely use them not only when you go to the beach. Linen bags will come in handy when shopping in the store, and when you go for a walk—you will likely find more uses for them in the long run.

In addition to the items already mentioned, the following should also be distinguished among the most important:

  • Towels. They should be light, quick-drying, and preferably in different colors so each family member has their own product. Linen towels, famous for their excellent moisture absorption properties, are especially suitable.
  • A garbage bag. Having them in advance will make cleaning up and leaving a tidy environment more manageable.
  • Cash. They will be helpful if you are traveling to a new vacation spot and are unsure whether cafes will accept cards.

Clothing and personal belongings

When planning your beach wardrobe and accessories, you should first think about the following attributes:

  •  A swimsuit suitable for sunbathing, swimming, or active activities. Consider an easy-to-put-on cover if you plan to walk to a cafe or kiosk.
  •  Water shoes to protect your feet while swimming or doing water sports.
  • A hat to protect your head from the sun. It is essential to provide children with such accessories.
  •  Sunglasses will not only become part of your image but will also protect your eyes and prevent squinting.
  • A bag for wet clothes and towels so you can separate them at the end of the day.
  •  Warmer clothes, such as sweaters or light jackets, will be needed if you spend time at the beach in the evening.
  • Extra clothes, which may be especially useful for children.
  •  Easy-to-put on flip-flops to protect your feet from the hot sand.
  •  A hairbrush and hair ties to help you manage wet, unruly hair.

Activities

Some people want to lie on a towel and enjoy the peace and quiet at the beach, but others want to use this time for fun or enriching activities. If you are one of them, consider the activities below:

  •  Buckets and spades. These are great for children of all ages who enjoy playing with sand or are trying it for the first time. Such toys can sometimes appeal even to their competitive parents who are in the mood for a bit of competition.
  • Game balls. Volleyball is most often played in the water, but you can also try any other team or ball games – you need to stock up on the appropriate ball in advance.
  • Books, magazines. They will appeal to those who like passive recreation and want to pamper themselves in the sun.
  • Diving goggles. If you are vacationing in an area famous for its impressive underwater world, take the opportunity to get to know it better.
  • Inflatable toys. They will provide endless entertainment – it will only depend on your and your children’s creativity and how you decide to use them for fun in the water.

Items for additional comfort

Many items can be taken to the beach to make your vacation even more comfortable. However, it would hardly be convenient to bring all of them there. Therefore, we suggest you consider a few essential products that should significantly increase your sense of comfort:

  • An umbrella that will protect you and your little ones from direct sunlight. Babies will be able to take a peaceful nap under it.

Beach chairs are helpful for those who don’t like to lie on the sand.

  •  Thin blankets will provide additional protection when you relax on the beach in the evening.

Electronics and their accessories

Although water and technology don’t always go together, there are quite a few things that you can pack for a day at the beach and not get too far away from your digital life. Of course, it would be helpful to do this when relaxing, but some devices can help you relax even better. For example, waterproof speakers are especially suitable for relaxing on the beach, which helps create a fun atmosphere. However, you should ensure you don’t disturb your beach neighbors too much.

In some cases, underwater or action cameras can also be helpful – you will likely take such devices when relaxing in foreign countries. You should also get a waterproof phone case – unless you are determined to look at your smartphone screen as rarely as possible near the water. Otherwise, a portable charger will be handy, not allowing you to be left without a connection during the day.

This list may vary slightly depending on your personal needs and habits, but you will not go wrong if you consider each of the above attributes. To make it easier, you can make a list of the most important things—then you will be sure that you have taken with you everything you may need for a quality vacation.
